'Felix and Everly's Mini Adventures' is Chris' first project as an illustrator and cover designer.
He studied Graphic Design and Illustration in Edinburgh and then went on a whole other path in hospitality, leaving the world of art and illustration behind for a number of years.
He became a self taught pyrographer in his 30s, setting up Charred Wood in Northumberland and has been working on building the business over the last 10 years.
His wife Carolina wrote 'Felix and Everly's Mini Adventures' in Autumn 2021 and Chris was tasked with creating the illustrations and cover for 'The Wild Garden' which has taken him on a creative tangent that is also spilling into his latest pyrography creations. He has designed the cover and drawn illustrations for all 6 books in the series. In early 2026 he has been working on covers for A Step in the Dark and The Binding.
Illustrating books has given him a new creative boost so he has started Crooked Quill Designs, with illustrations and mixed media with inspiration from a variety of sources such as the local area and pop culture too. He has a range of prints available to order as Giclee A4 or other sizes. Check his portfolio on his art and illustrations page.
